Richard Whitby

Managing Director

During a long career in financial services Richard achieved success as a fraud investigator before joining the London Stock Exchange.

He moved into resilience planning in 1999 as head of the consultancy division at an international disaster recovery company and joined Crisis Solutions in 2003. Richard has more than fifteen years experience of delivering and managing risk and resilience solutions to a variety of global brands.

He has been directly involved in the simulation of a Euro crisis for a global financial services provider; practical resilience planning in the oil fields of Kazakhstan and supply chain resilience in major supermarkets.

Stuart Beattie

Director of Consultancy

Stuart joined Crisis Solutions in 2018 as Director of Consultancy and ensures all client activity within the consultancy business is resourced and delivered effectively. 

He is responsible for ensuring our clients are supported before, during and after each exercise. In addition he focusses on client satisfaction and our consultancy services meeting the client’s individual needs.

Stuart has over 30 years experience across a number of industries, with a particular focus on Financial Services where Stuart held a wide variety of senior positions.

Emma Perry

Research and Development Associate

Emma is researching current incident and crisis management theory and all associated frameworks in order to challenge and develop existing thinking to better suit the day to day needs of our clients and raise the standard for the incident responders and crisis management professionals that we work with.

Over the years she has designed and implemented crisis management programmes for some of the UK’s largest financial institutions.

A former naval officer, she has a BSc in Physics, an MSc in Crisis Management and is currently researching a PhD in Strategy.

Max Brady

Crisis Consultant

Max joined Crisis Solutions in early 2016 after graduating from the University of Exeter where he studied for a BA in Geography. While at university he participated in modules involving crisis and security management and its application to ‘real life’ scenarios, as well as modules in governance and crisis response. At Crisis Solutions Max is leveraging this knowledge to provide innovative services to our clients.

Outside of work, Max is a keen rugby player (he played for his university) and a very capable musician.

Clive Elderton

Senior Consultant

Clive started working with Crisis Solutions following a successful career in the British Army which culminated in India as the British Defence and Military Attache at the time of the Mumbai attacks in 2008. Throughout his military career he had a deep involvement in counter terrorist EOD operations at all levels which included a pivotal role at the highest level in national contingency operations and responsibility for the totality of the national 24/7 emergency response capability.

Clive has considerable personal experience of handling complex crisis situations in the UK and elsewhere and of developing effective crisis response capabilities at all levels

Kirsty scott


Kirsty joined the team towards the end of 2017 as our Administrator. She keeps the office running smoothly while the team are out delivering simulations, exercises and workshops.

She has a strong administration background in a range of disciplines that include Human Resources, Recruitment and Learning & Development. Kirsty previously worked for a social housing provider for 7 years.

Glenn Smith

Business Continuity Adviser

Glenn is the Crisis Solutions’ Business Continuity expert. He writes and implements BC plans across a vast range of sectors and organisations. He also designs crisis simulations and can often be found heading up the scenario cell during exercise delivery.

Experiences in Business Continuity include: MBCI status, chairing the UK Utilities Contingency Planning Group for Y2K and lecturing at a number of universities on BC and related subjects.

Outside of work Glenn is a British Motorsports race marshal where he attends track-side incidents.
