To meet the continual demand for crisis exercises and rehearsals, Crisis Solutions have taken on three new members of staff.

They join a dedicated team of crisis experts - all employed and trained by us.  We don't use "associates" or sub-contractors.

We welcome them to the team as they begin their training programme.

...and New Clients

During the last quarter several new clients have asked Crisis Solutions to help with their crisis readiness.

These have included clients in the engineering, investment banking, retailing, pharmaceutical,  fresh food and telecoms sectors.

Graduate Sponsorship

Erez Herman, Crisis Solutions' sponsored graduate for 2006/07,  said -

"I was given the opportunity to compliment my studies in management with true hands on experience of business continuity strategies, planning and training within a variety of industries.

I really enjoyed working with the team and will seek to build on this experience in my future professional career.

The insight I received through participation on exercises and direct access with clients was above and beyond what I expected from this graduate placement".

We wish Erez best wishes for his future career.

The scenarios for each test are different, but this client has asked us to simulate a terrorist attack, a reputational attack and a hostage situation involving a former employee.

Benefits to the Client:  Following each test the client adjusts and improves the business continuity plans and the crisis management plans.

Annual Testing at a Major Asset Management company

The Client:  One of Europe’s largest Asset Managers.

The Work:  This is another client that has engaged Crisis Solutions for four years in a row.  We provide annual testing events to allow this client to try new resilience tools and techniques.  As an example, during one event this client wished to try out a new communication technique throughout its crisis management teams and operational business continuity teams.  We designed a “testbed” exercise to allow this to be practised against measurable performance improvements.

Benefits to the Client:  This client has developed a more sophisticated and resilient approach to major incidents during the years that we have worked with them.  In addition, they have been able to trial a new communication technique in an exercise environment, without the risk of affecting day-to-day business.

UK Government National-Level Contingency Exercise

The Client:  An important central Government Department

The Work:  Crisis Solutions has been appointed to advise a UK Government Department on a national-level contingency exercise.  The exercise will take place in mid 2006.  Crisis Solutions' role will be to provide expert advice during the design phase, facilitate the strategic teams and provide support to the analysis and reporting process

Ongoing Major Resilience and Incident Management Programme for one of the Largest Financial Services Groups in the World

The Client:  One of the largest financial services organisations in the world.

The Work:  For four years in a row now, Crisis Solutions have been engaged to provide a crisis and resilience management programme for one of the world’s largest financial services groups.  This has consisted of training and exercising events for various teams at all levels from very senior management to operational business units, as well as specific projects to develop tools, methodologies, plans and guides for building resilience.  The current programme is complex and varied with, on average, an event being delivered every month.

Twice a year we design and deliver major multi-centre crisis simulation exercises involving in excess of 100 participants and supported by teams of Crisis Solutions specialists.

The tools, methodologies and processes have been co-developed by Crisis Solutions and the client and include many enablers for building resilience, making decisions and communicating in a crisis.  These have been propagated throughout the group.

Benefits to the Client:  Since working with Crisis Solutions this group believes it has become a world-leader in resilience and readiness. The incident management toolkit we developed for this client was used extensively and successfully during a recent real-live crisis following the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Ivan on the Cayman Islands.

The Work:  For the second year in a row we have helped this client to develop a series of training and exercising events to enable them to verify their Business Continuity Plans.  The programme enables us to uncover gaps in the plans and to establish whether assumptions made in the plans are correct.  This client also asked us to develop ground-breaking benchmarking standards for their resilience capability, enabling them to ensure year-on-year resilience improvements whilst at the same time justifying the costs of the programme.

Benefits to the Client:  The client has significantly improved its crisis preparations using a cost-effective process, benchmarked against our findings at similar financial services companies.

Benefits to the Client:  A number of gaps and incorrect assumptions were found in the plans and the plan holders have undertaken to update the plans.  Crisis Solutions arranged a series of events to test elements of the resilience preparation throughout 2005 and this continues in 2006.
